Marsha Winsryg

Marsha Winsryg

Marsha Winsryg studied at Bennington and Bank St. Colleges and has lived on Martha’s Vineyard for over 25 years. In that time she has developed a unique approach towards depicting the Vineyard landscape in vibrant pastels, gouache and egg tempera. Recent trips to Africa and a year spent in Florence, Italy have opened new vistas and new visions. Her latest works have been three-dimensional shrines; meticulously assembled constructions fabricated with the finest handmade papers from around the world. Each one is a completely hand-built one-of-a-kind creation.

She has shown at various Vineyard galleries including the Field Gallery and Etherington Fine Arts.

In addition to her art, Ms. Winsryg has raised three daughters, taught extensively, and is the Director of a non profit called African Artists Community Development Project, that raises money for an orphanage and center for disabled children in Zambia. She is part of the puppet troupe Spindrift Marionettes and directs the West Tisbury Bell Choir.
